Helen specialises in a variety of treatments and techniques that can help virtually anyone with all sorts of aspects of their daily lives, including sports, leisure activities, work and mental well-being. Here is a little more information on the services she has to offer.
Deep tissue and remedial massage.
I treat a variety of clients from professional athletes to office workers. Encompassing a wide variety of techniques, I tailor each session to suit the individual’s particular needs – so that each of my sessions is unique. Treatments might involve simple but effective ‘effleurage’ – a stroking movement or I might use techniques such as soft tissue and myofascial release and friction.These are more invasive techniques designed to eliminate restriction, increase range of motion and balance the body. I help people with a range of issues from soft tissue injury to muscle imbalance to stress related tension.
The many benefits of my deep tissue/remedial massage include:
* improving posture, restoring muscle balance and alleviating chronic problems such as low back pain, headaches and RSI;
* relaxing taut muscles, revitalising and easing out aches and pains;
* restoring mobility, elasticity and flexibility;
* enhancing athletic performance and prolonging an active life;
* accelerating recovery from exercise and reducing fatigue;
* helping prevent overuse injuries in sport and assisting in rehabilitation.
Fitness training
Training can be boring, time-consuming and, frankly, a lot of hard work – but it can also be great fun. As a personal trainer, I aim to show clients how to exercise safely and effectively, creating bespoke programmes that are motivating and fun and, most importantly, that have measurable goals. I train clients at their homes, workplaces and outdoors, depending on their individual requirements.
So whether you want to lose weight, run a marathon or keep up a regular routine to improve or maintain current fitness levels, I can help.
I can help you with a wide variety of fitness objectives including core stability, flexibility, strength and toning, aerobic fitness and conditioning. During training sessions, I use a range of modern equipment, including resistance bands, Swiss balls, bosu, kettle bells, boxing mits and pads.
Assessment
Whether you are embarking on a series of fitness sessions or massage treatments, I will conduct a thorough case history and assessment to ascertain your body’s function and movement. This will identify areas of tension and/or weakness that can then be adressed to ensure the most effective exercise or treatment plan is given to suit the individual.
Coming to a desk near you….chair massage
The daily grind of a busy office environment can often cause tense, aching muscles. Yet many of us simply can’t find the time for a soothing and relaxing full body massage. The solution is the chair massage.
This is an on-site massage service where the treatment is brought to you. It is done on a specifically designed massage chair over clothes and without the use of oil or lotion to minimise fuss. This makes it ideal for the office and any other environment where removing clothing might not be appropriate.
Sessions are generally shorter than a regular massage treatment because saving time is usually a key factor to clients. But these treatments are nevertheless extremely beneficial and can be incorporated into a weekly work schedule.
Apart from being convenient and cost-effective, chair massage is a great way to
* relieve tension headaches and muscular aches and pains such as RSI and postural problems;
* help you to unwind and reduce effects of stress;
* stimulate energy flow to rejuvenate body and mind, which can improve mental focus;
* and eliminate fatigue.
Chair massage has been used with great success by companies as a health and wellbeing initiative and performance initiative.
