This is difficult because you don’t know what was said. If your last boss provided a written reference about you, and the information in it was wrong, you may be able to sue for defamation against your last boss. You would have to prove the information was wrong and that you suffered a detriment as a result of the incorrect information.
If the feedback was verbal it will be extremely difficult for you to find out what was said and prove it was wrong.
You may want to take advice from your Union if you are a member, or take legal advice from a solicitor.
