Having a supportive spouse can be the key to a business’ success or failure, new research has found.
The research, by Bibby Financial Services, found that 38 per cent of spouses believed their partner working weekends was acceptable when running a business, and 44 per cent believed working late nights was also acceptable.
But the research also found 24 per cent of spouses argued with their partners for working too much, and 29 per cent thought their partner did not spend enough time at home.
Bibby Financial Services global chief executive David Robertson said it was important small business owners had a strong support network of family and friends, given the current economic climate.
“Most entrepreneurs’ other halves understand only too well that certain sacrifices are needed and there sometimes has to be a trade-off between family life and work life to achieve business success,” he said.
