A total of 8.8 million returns have been filed so far, but there are apparently still 1.8 million people yet to submit, despite tomorrow’s deadline looming large and the threat of penalties for late filing.
Sifting through the stats a significant amount of people appear to be cutting it fine, the Tax Office stating that on Tuesday that over a quarter of a million people submitted returns, 321,000 online self-assessments filed at a rate of 13,375 an hour.
Clearly, then, you’re not alone if you’re leaving it till the last minute. We’d recommend getting it done sooner rather than later, as HMRC have a tendency for technical faults, the last one coming less than a month ago. In other words, quit reading this and get filing!
