We love co-working – it’s the perfect asset for freelancers and contractors, and you get to keep your freedom while also having a nice, professional office setup.
Each city has its own co-working resources, some cities – such as Brighton (the fair city Freelance Advisor likes to call home) are positively brimming over with co-working spaces and co-workers to fill them. One major link in the co-working chain is still missing though, as far as we can see. There’s no national database for co-workers shopping around for a space that suits their needs.
This is something we’d desperately like to see, as we get sent lots of inquiries about co-working – then we got to thinking. We have hosting, and we cater to a huge community of creative freelancers who love to contribute and put their name to something great. So why shouldn’t we do it? So we’re going to.
What we’re thinking is something like this – a Google Maps application that allows people to add their co-working space (or co-working spaces they know of) to a listing, which is then obviously searchable by location, allowing freelancers and contractors to shop around for the best co-working spaces in their area, and companies to promote their co-working spaces directly to their customers. The database will be hosted here on Freelance Advisor, and will be made available to to anyone who wants to use it, or embed it in their site. We’ve got loads of freebies here in the office so anybody who lends their time will be justly rewarded with some tat.
So if you feel like putting in a few hours of your time to contribute to this project, help fill a gap in the market, and give something back to the freelancing community, drop us a line in the comments or on Twitter, and we’ll put a team together to knock this thing up and get it out the gate as soon as possible.
